The detail

Running a GTA V: FiveM server

A FiveM server is only as fast as its worst resource. The framework, the database and the streamed assets all matter, but one loop running every frame in a script nobody has read will cost more than everything else combined. Build up slowly, check resmon after each addition, and keep a copy of server.cfg somewhere other than the server. Roleplay servers grow by accretion, and the ones that stay smooth are the ones that prune.

How much RAM do you need?

Up to 32 players 8 GB A light framework build, few streamed assets.
Up to 48 players 12 GB ESX or QBCore with a normal resource list.
Up to 64 players 16 GB A full roleplay build, MLOs and custom vehicles.
64 players, heavy build 24 GB Large asset streaming and a busy database.

A guide, not a limit — you can change plan later without losing your world.

Getting started

01
Pick a plan and location

FiveM is sensitive to single-thread speed and to how far your players sit from the box. Pick the closest location first, then size RAM for your resource list.

02
Add your Cfx.re licence key

Generate a free server key in the Cfx.re keymaster and set it in server.cfg. Without a valid key the server will not start, and it will not appear in the list.

03
Install a framework and database

ESX and QBCore both need MySQL for characters, inventories and jobs. Set the database up first, then import the framework schema before you add any other resources.

04
Add resources a few at a time

Open resmon in-game after each batch. One badly written script will eat your frame budget, and finding it later means unpicking fifty resources at once.

Split your server

Turn one server into two, for the same money

Need a database, a test server or a second world? Split RAM off the server you already have. You are re-allocating memory you already pay for, so the total barely moves — no second order, no migration.

Database servers

A real database, not a shared one

Split off a database and you get your own MariaDB, PostgreSQL or MongoDB server — its own RAM, its own storage, its own version. Not a schema on a box shared with a thousand other people.

Your own instance

Dedicated RAM and CPU. A heavy query on someone else's database can't slow yours down.

Pick your engine and version

MariaDB, PostgreSQL or MongoDB, each with every version worth running — choose at creation, keep it until you decide otherwise.

Manage it in the panel

Create databases and users, browse tables and run queries from the browser.

Reachable from your servers

Point your plugins at it over the private network — no public exposure needed.

Splitting is done from your server's page once it is running — nothing to order.

Ask on Discord
Yes — full access to install custom scripts, resources and frameworks like ESX and QBCore through the control panel.
Up to 64 per server by default.
Deployed instantly after payment — playable within minutes.
Yes — our support team handles server configuration, script installation and troubleshooting for FiveM.
High-performance CPUs and NVMe SSDs, tuned for FiveM's networking demands.
Yes, and it is free. Generate one in the Cfx.re keymaster against your account, then set it in server.cfg as sv_licenseKey. Without a valid key the server will not start. Keys are tied to an address, so tell support if you change location and the key needs regenerating.
It ships with the server build and gives you a web dashboard on top of it: recipe-based deployments, scheduled restarts, player and ban management, live console and resource control. Most owners run day-to-day operations through it. It sits alongside our control panel rather than replacing it.
ESX and QBCore store characters, inventories, vehicles, jobs and money in MySQL, and reach it through a resource such as oxmysql. Without one there is no persistence and players lose everything on restart. Set the database up and import the framework schema before adding anything else on top.
Almost always a resource rather than the hardware. Run resmon in-game and read the per-resource times: one script polling every frame will cost more than fifty well-written ones. Add resources in small batches and check after each, so you always know what to blame.
Streamed assets live in a resource's stream folder and are downloaded by every player who joins. They cost disk on our side and patience on theirs — a large pack turns a thirty-second first join into several minutes. Keep the collection curated and drop whatever nobody uses.

DDoS protection, included

Every server sits behind always-on filtering at the network edge. Attack traffic is dropped before it reaches your node, so your players stay connected and you are not billed extra for the privilege.

On by default

Nothing to enable, configure or buy as an add-on. Active from the moment your server is created.

Filtered at the edge

Volumetric traffic is dropped upstream of your node, so your CPU and RAM keep serving players.

Game-aware filtering

Rules are tuned for game protocols, so real players are not caught alongside the attack traffic.

Nothing for you to do

Mitigation starts automatically. If something does get through, support can see it and respond.

Enterprise network

Powered by a 10Gbps network

Every node sits on a 10Gbps uplink with direct routes into the major exchanges, so traffic reaches your players over as few hops as possible. Less distance, fewer transits, lower and steadier ping.
