CloudNord Sets a High Bar

After trying a number of hosting providers over the years, CloudNord has quickly become one of the most impressive I've used. Getting started was straightforward from the moment I signed up. The pricing is excellent for the hardware on offer, and there are plenty of configuration choices without the whole process feeling overwhelming. The management panel is clean, responsive, and easy to navigate. Performance has been consistently reliable too — my community has enjoyed smooth gameplay with no noticeable lag or stability problems.

The detail

Running a ARK: Survival Evolved server

ARK's cost is not player count, it is everything those players leave behind. Tames, structures and dropped items all live in one save file that grows every day, and memory use grows with it. A tribe of ten on a mature map can be heavier than thirty on a fresh one. Run decay timers, prune abandoned bases between seasons, and if you want several maps, budget for each separately — a cluster is several servers, not one.

How much RAM do you need?

Up to 10 players 10 GB One official map, vanilla rates, a young save.
Up to 30 players 16 GB A mod list and a save that has been running a while.
Up to 70 players 24 GB Large map, heavy tame and structure counts.
100+ players 32 GB Per map — each map in a cluster is its own server.

A guide, not a limit — you can change plan later without losing your world.

Getting started

01
Pick a plan, map and location

Each map is its own server with its own RAM. Decide whether you want a single map or a cluster before you order, then pick the location nearest your tribe.

02
Deploy and set your rates

Live in about sixty seconds. Harvest, taming and XP multipliers go in GameUserSettings.ini; per-level stat and engram curves belong in Game.ini. Set both before anyone tames anything.

03
Add your mod list

Mods are listed by ID in the server config and download to players automatically when they join. Test the list on an empty server first — load order breaks things quietly.

04
Set decay and back up

Structure decay and tame limits stop the save file bloating, which is what eventually slows an ARK server down. Automatic backups run alongside, so pruning is low risk.

Split your server

Turn one server into two, for the same money

Need a database, a test server or a second world? Split RAM off the server you already have. You are re-allocating memory you already pay for, so the total barely moves — no second order, no migration.

Database servers

A real database, not a shared one

Split off a database and you get your own MariaDB, PostgreSQL or MongoDB server — its own RAM, its own storage, its own version. Not a schema on a box shared with a thousand other people.

Your own instance

Dedicated RAM and CPU. A heavy query on someone else's database can't slow yours down.

Pick your engine and version

MariaDB, PostgreSQL or MongoDB, each with every version worth running — choose at creation, keep it until you decide otherwise.

Manage it in the panel

Create databases and users, browse tables and run queries from the browser.

Reachable from your servers

Point your plugins at it over the private network — no public exposure needed.

Splitting is done from your server's page once it is running — nothing to order.

Yes — install and manage ARK mods and custom configurations from the control panel.
Yes. Servers that share a cluster ID and a shared transfer directory let players move characters, items and tames between maps. Each map is a separate server with its own plan and its own RAM, so a four-map cluster is four orders rather than one large one. Support can set the cluster up for you.
The save file. Every tame, structure, dropped item and cryopod persists, and ARK holds a great deal of that in memory while the server runs. Memory use therefore climbs with the age of the world rather than with player count, which is why a busy six-month-old map needs far more than a fresh one.
No. List your mod IDs in the server configuration and clients download them automatically on connect. Test the list on an empty server first: order matters, and two mods touching the same item or creature will conflict in ways that only surface once thirty people are online.
Both, for different things. GameUserSettings.ini holds the day-to-day multipliers — harvesting, taming, XP, difficulty. Game.ini holds the deeper curves: per-level stat gains, engram costs and unlock overrides. Editing the wrong file is the usual reason a change appears to do nothing after a restart.
Leave structure decay on, set sensible tame limits per tribe, and prune abandoned bases between seasons. A save that grows unchecked will slow the server down long before you run out of players, and no amount of RAM fixes that permanently. Automatic backups mean you can clear house without much risk.

DDoS protection, included

Every server sits behind always-on filtering at the network edge. Attack traffic is dropped before it reaches your node, so your players stay connected and you are not billed extra for the privilege.

On by default

Nothing to enable, configure or buy as an add-on. Active from the moment your server is created.

Filtered at the edge

Volumetric traffic is dropped upstream of your node, so your CPU and RAM keep serving players.

Game-aware filtering

Rules are tuned for game protocols, so real players are not caught alongside the attack traffic.

Nothing for you to do

Mitigation starts automatically. If something does get through, support can see it and respond.

Powered by a 10Gbps network

Every node sits on a 10Gbps uplink with direct routes into the major exchanges, so traffic reaches your players over as few hops as possible. Less distance, fewer transits, lower and steadier ping.
