CloudNord Sets a High Bar

After trying a number of hosting providers over the years, CloudNord has quickly become one of the most impressive I've used. Getting started was straightforward from the moment I signed up. The pricing is excellent for the hardware on offer, and there are plenty of configuration choices without the whole process feeling overwhelming. The management panel is clean, responsive, and easy to navigate. Performance has been consistently reliable too — my community has enjoyed smooth gameplay with no noticeable lag or stability problems.

The detail

Running a V Rising server

V Rising servers live or die on castle policy. Every standing castle is state the server carries whether its owner logs in or not, so the decay settings you choose on day one decide what the server costs and how it feels in month three. Set the ruleset, clan size and decay rate before you invite anyone, because changing them later means either annoying the people who built under the old rules or living with them.

How much RAM do you need?

Up to 10 players 6 GB A small clan on a private server.
Up to 20 players 8 GB PvE, or PvP with a settled population.
Up to 40 players 12 GB Busy PvP with plenty of castles standing.
40+ players 16 GB Castle count drives memory more than headcount does.

A guide, not a limit — you can change plan later without losing your world.

Getting started

01
Pick a plan and location

Castle count drives memory more than player count does. Size for the number of standing castles you expect at the end of a season, not on opening night.

02
Choose a game mode first

PvE, PvP and the clan size cap are set before launch and are awkward to change once clans exist. Settle the ruleset with your community before you open the doors.

03
Tune the two config files

ServerHostSettings.json holds the name, slot count and ports. ServerGameSettings.json holds rates, castle limits, decay and PvP rules. Both are editable from the panel.

04
Set decay and back up

Castle hearts burn blood essence while their owners are away, and an empty heart means a decaying castle. Decide your decay policy early, and keep backups running.

Split your server

Turn one server into two, for the same money

Need a database, a test server or a second world? Split RAM off the server you already have. You are re-allocating memory you already pay for, so the total barely moves — no second order, no migration.

Database servers

A real database, not a shared one

Split off a database and you get your own MariaDB, PostgreSQL or MongoDB server — its own RAM, its own storage, its own version. Not a schema on a box shared with a thousand other people.

Your own instance

Dedicated RAM and CPU. A heavy query on someone else's database can't slow yours down.

Pick your engine and version

MariaDB, PostgreSQL or MongoDB, each with every version worth running — choose at creation, keep it until you decide otherwise.

Manage it in the panel

Create databases and users, browse tables and run queries from the browser.

Reachable from your servers

Point your plugins at it over the private network — no public exposure needed.

Splitting is done from your server's page once it is running — nothing to order.

FAQ

Before you order

In two JSON files. ServerHostSettings.json covers the name, description, slot count and ports. ServerGameSettings.json covers everything about play: rates, clan size, PvP rules, castle limits and decay. Both are editable from the panel's file manager, and both are read when the server starts.
By default, yes. A castle heart burns blood essence to stay powered, and once it runs dry the castle begins to decay and eventually falls. It is how the game reclaims space from players who have moved on. You can slow it down, or switch it off, in the game settings file.
Yes, through BepInEx, which most V Rising mods build on. Install it via the file manager and drop mods into the plugins folder. Expect to re-check after every game patch: mods that hook game code frequently break on updates, and a broken plugin can stop the server booting at all.
Decide before you open. PvE, PvP and the clan size cap are set at launch and are disruptive to change once people have built and grouped. If you are unsure, PvE with a modest clan size is the forgiving option — you can always start a PvP season later on a fresh save.
Clear the save directory and let the server generate a fresh world. Take a backup first, and download it if anyone wants to keep a record of what they built. Announce the date well ahead of time: a surprise wipe costs you more players than a scheduled one ever will.

DDoS protection, included

Every server sits behind always-on filtering at the network edge. Attack traffic is dropped before it reaches your node, so your players stay connected and you are not billed extra for the privilege.

On by default

Nothing to enable, configure or buy as an add-on. Active from the moment your server is created.

Filtered at the edge

Volumetric traffic is dropped upstream of your node, so your CPU and RAM keep serving players.

Game-aware filtering

Rules are tuned for game protocols, so real players are not caught alongside the attack traffic.

Nothing for you to do

Mitigation starts automatically. If something does get through, support can see it and respond.

Powered by a 10Gbps network

Every node sits on a 10Gbps uplink with direct routes into the major exchanges, so traffic reaches your players over as few hops as possible. Less distance, fewer transits, lower and steadier ping.
